The premise
Every year the town of Vell releases a thousand paper lanterns, and every year exactly one wish comes true. This year the wishes are coming true early, and not the way anyone hoped.
Opening scene
Evening at the Lantern Fair in Vell. Paper lanterns rise over the hill. But wishes are coming true a day early, and a child's careless wish has just turned the town square to glass.
